As a kid, I remember very clearly Christmas at my Aunties. There would be dozens of people, kids, adults, 3 generations, cousins, 2nd cousins, a huge xmas tree, a pool, concerts put on by the kids, a hot xmas lunch or dinner, long tables, plastic table clothes, fold up chairs and tables, songs on the pianola, and loads of laughter.
Now we have all grown up with families of our own – getting together with this part of the family at xmas has become impossible.
So this year – we decided on xmas in July down the coast. 2 houses, a caravan, 11 adults, 7 kids, 3 generations. It was fabulous to be together again, like old times. Old home videos of xmas’ past, a hot xmas dinner, adventures to the beach (yes it is winter in Australia!), a front yard driving range, the old pianola, trampolines, bubbles and a pinata for the kids too!
This might become a new annual family tradition!
